About Annatjie Krige

After achieving national status as a professional artist in South Africa Annatjie’s Oosthuizen, now Krige’s unique impressionistic romantic art is now on the World Wide Web.  Annatjie was born on the 15th February 1948. She was baptized Anna Aletta Johanna Nel. Her father was a painter by trade and her mother worked from home as a seamstress and dress designer. She was a very happy and friendly child and long awaited. Sixteen years after they got married her mother found herself pregnant.  Laughter and joy is ever present in Annatjie’s life and work. For this reason she likes to produce informal pieces reflecting humorous and light-hearted moments, captured with a few quick brush strokes and bright colour.

Future aspirations

When asked what her dreams for the future are Annatjie replied as follows; To one day own a studio out in the country overlooking a stretch of natural water. The room must be very big, airy and sunny with a earth floor and every kind of tame animal must have free access such as chickens, goats, sheep, dogs, orphaned game and so forth.  They must be with me while I work.  To one day have all her family living in close proximity and in safety on a game farm which the family own and run. This must be a haven for broken families to mend and find the Lord.  To be blessed by God so that she and Ado can grow old and meet the Lord together. One must not die before the other, but together they must serve Him to the end of their days.
